BASE also wanted to get the country´s capital enthused about SMS poetry. In collaboration with Passaporta, le Plaisir du Texte, FM Brussel and Bel RTL, the mobile phone operator organised the first SMS poetry competition in Brussels.  This competition differed from the editions in Ghent and Namur inasmuch as in Brussels both Dutch and French native speakers could let loose their inspiration on the central theme of ‘Jij Mijn Andere Ik - Toi, Mon Autre Moi'. This theme of ‘You, My Other I' wasn´t chosen by accident, because it reflects the diversity of Brussels, the city where all differences come together. From the 500 submissions, 23 poems were chosen for inclusion in the poetry volume. The award presentation ceremony was held on 21 March, World Poetry Day.

First prize NL:
Ma smoutebolleke, mei e bloske oep a kokske.

2008
On Valentine´s Day, 14 February 2008, the second edition of the SMS poetry competition was launched in Brussels. Via the theme ‘Bruxelles, mon amour - Brussel, mijn liefste', Belgians were invited to openly declare their love for our capital. 330 poets accepted the invitation, and 24 of them were selected by jury president Bruno Coppens and his ´strict but fair judges´ for inclusion in the traditional poetry booklet.
