KPN Group Belgium's sponsoring activities are closely related to our business objectives.

Sport plays an important social role. It contributes to the wellbeing of both the active and passive sport's lover and provides us all with countless memorable moments. KPN Group Belgium is therefore proud to support a number of initiatives with a national profile with a focus on football and basketball.

For several years now, BASE has become increasingly active in sponsoring all kinds of cultural events, such as OdeGand within the framework of the Flanders Festival but also events for the wider public such as a number of Belgian music festivals and the Fêtes de Wallonie.

In 2010, the "Short Message Service", abbreviated SMS, has already been in existence for 17 years. In virtually no time, the short message of a maximum of 160 characters has become a part of our everyday lives, as a language form but also as literary form.  

KPN Group Belgium has signed a contract with Woestijnvis (De Vijver) to be the chief sponsor of the Flanders Classics. This two-year partnership is a further step down the road already travelled over the last few years by the parent company of the BASE brand.

In 2005 BASE organized, in collaboration with the Flanders Festival and the Ghent Poëziecentrum, the first SMS poetry competition.

Namur was the second city to jump on the SMS poetry bandwagon with great enthusiasm.

BASE also wanted to get the country´s capital enthused about SMS poetry.

The last city - for the moment - to join the SMS poetry club is Liège.
