Sports
Sport plays an important social role. It contributes to the wellbeing of both the active and passive sport's lover and provides us all with countless memorable moments. KPN Group Belgium is therefore proud to support a number of initiatives with a national profile with a focus on football and basketball.
Standard de Liège: Standard de Liège is one of Belgium’s most popular football clubs, and it has been playing in first division uninterruptedly since 1921. The ‘Rouches’ have won 10 national titles and 5 Belgian Cups. After a period of 25 years without national title, Standard won the championship in 2 affiliated seasons (2007-2008 and 2008-2009), and this with BASE (KPN Group Belgium) as principal partner.

SV Zulte Waregem: When it comes to sponsoring, KPN Group Belgium has always pursued a deliberate policy of sponsoring sports and cultural organisations that have a considerable potential for growth and whose reach is nationwide. Famous examples obviously include Standard de Liège (2 premier league titles), Okapi Aalstar and more recently Flanders Classics, in collaboration with independent TV production company Woestijnvis.
Which is why in 2010 we also decided to conclude a partnership deal with SV Zulte Waregem football club: well-organised, maintaining a high profile in the region, and consistently showing very considerable growth potential. Same as BASE, Essevee is a challenger that successfully manages to give the big boys hell on the pitch: in the ranking of the past five seasons the club places fifth, with plans firming up for a new Essevee football grounds in the short term! What is more, April 2010 saw the opening of a new ALLO telecommunications outlet in 't Pand in Waregem, a mere 400 metres' walk from the stadium.

Sporting Charleroi: This first division football club was founded in Charleroi on 1 January 1904. The surname of the players is ‘the Zebras’, referring to the colour of the team shirts (black and white). The Carolos’ matricule is 22, and they play their home games at the ‘Stade du Pays de Charleroi’.

Okapi Aalstar: Basketball is a family sport which is on the up among large audiences. It is important to KPN Group Belgium that friends, family and acquaintances have the opportunity to enjoy a good basketball game.
BASE has been the partner of first division basketball team Okapi Aalstar for some years now. Okapi play their home games in the Forum in Aalst, and they are a regular play-off candidate.

In 2010, the "Short Message Service", abbreviated SMS, has already been in existence for 17 years. In virtually no time, the short message of a maximum of 160 characters has become a part of our everyday lives, as a language form but also as literary form.
